David Icke

I've never heard of David Icke today but I recently stumbled on his name. A very interesting guy. Absolute nutter though! I think its interesting that such a public figure could have hidden such nutty views.

From Wikipedia;

David Vaughan Icke (pronounced /aɪk/), born April 29, 1952, is a British writer and public speaker who has devoted himself since 1990 to researching "who and what is really controlling the world."[1] A former professional football player, reporter, television sports presenter, and spokesman for the Green Party, he is the author of 20 books explaining his views.

Icke argues that he has developed a moral and political worldview that combines New Age spiritualism with a passionate denunciation of what he sees as totalitarian trends in the modern world, a position that has been described as "New Age conspiracism."[2]

At the heart of Icke's theories is the view that the world is ruled by a secret group called the "Global Elite" or "Illuminati," which he has linked to The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic hoax.[3][4] In 1999, he published The Biggest Secret, in which he wrote that the Illuminati are a race of reptilian humanoids known as the Babylonian Brotherhood, and that many prominent figures are reptilian, including George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, Kris Kristofferson, and Boxcar Willie.[3][5]

In an interview on the Terry Wogan show that year, he announced that he was "the son of God,"[13] and that Britain would be devastated by tidal waves and earthquakes. His statements were met with laughter and ridicule from the studio audience, derision in the press, and suggestions that he was mentally ill. Icke later said that he had been misinterpreted by the media. According to Icke, he used the term "the son of God" "… in the sense of being an aspect, as I understood it at the time, of the Infinite consciousness that is everything. As I have written before, we are like droplets of water in an ocean of infinite consciousness."[17]

From the wonderful XKCD;

MythTV dissapointed (MythTV versus Media Portal)

For the last year or so my dedicated media box has been running MediaPortal on Windows. It's been a good little setup all in all, but using Windows always bugs me.

In the last week the harddisk on the box popped and I had to replace it so I thought I'd give MythTV and Mythbuntu a shot.

First of all I'd like to say that Mythbuntu 8.10 is a great little package and it does vastly simplify the process of setting up MythTV.

However once everything was set up I found MythTV to be clunky, uncomfortable to use, buggy and altogether a little disappointing. All in all MediaPortal is a superior product.

So now I'm stuck with the decision;
Shit OS but good Media centre
or Good OS but shit Media cetre

I think ill go with the former :-(
